So I was try to get a jump start on the cake I need to have ready for my mom and dad on friday.. I was baking a sheet cake, I cooled it for a bit then tried to take it out of the pan... And of course it stuck to the pan. It's never happend to be before and I did everything I was supposed to do.. And I can't make another one cause my kids decided to eat all the eggs Oh well I chalked that up to a mistake somewhere.
Then I go to make my frosting and of course wouldn't u know it i'm out of a ingredient...
I should of stopped there cause I guess it just wasn't ment to be a good night for me. But of course I didn't I went to make the fondant, the first batch crumbled and never formed.. I think I added my food coloring to soon? So I tried it again it all went fine intill I found little bits of hard powdered sugar in my fondant... GRRRRRRRRR And they were not there before I started mixing.. What in the world would of caused that??? Of course I still I stuff I had to do but I figured I had better stop while I was ahead!!
Just a little vent for me sorry about all the bad grammar lol But u get the idea
The end was supposed to say..." I still had fillings I had to make" Sry I guess I was typing to fast
Don't worry everyone has a bad cake day. I have had this same problem before.
First, take a minute to relax! If you want to use this same broken one, simply place the broken pcs back in place. No one will ever know. For future I recommend using wax paper to line the complete cake pan. (butter and line) I have not made one cake without wax paper after my bad cake day.
As for the fondant, I make MMF always. If I feel that more kneading is needed, I simply put it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. This also makes it so much easier to roll out.
Good Luck!
