Are you talking about getting the flames to look like that...with the colors mixed together? My son's cake was similar to that one and the lady told me the way she did it was just made the flames the light color and then painted or brushed the darker color in the middle. Not sure if that helps you or not....lol

yes, you stripe your piping bag by smearing the darker icing down one side of the inside (and build up the stripe of icing too so it's more like a tube -- you could actually use another bag to pipe the stripe into your piping bag), then fill the bag with the other colour. squeeze until you get the effect you want -- you may need to reposition the tip so that the centre is lined up with the stripe. use a large leaf tip and heavy pressure to get the fullness at the bottom. thumbs_up.gif

I would use the leaf tip. When you fill your bag with icing try to keep the yellow on the sides and middle with orange. I've done it with just a touch of red also.

Yes, that's what I was talking about. I will keep that in mind, though I think it would be faster if I can get the bag striping to work. I've never done that before. I will experiment before I try it on the real cake.

Thanks for all your replies so far!
