Has anyone ever used the PME Luster Spray? I'm so upset right now. I'm making gum paste gold ribbon roses for a wedding cake coming up. I don't have an airbrush so I'm using the PME Gold Luster Spray. I tried it out last week. I made a couple roses, let them dry and then sprayed them with the gold luster spray and they turned out beautifully! So yesterday I made a few more roses, tried to spray them today with the spray and it doesn't work, just made the roses kind of wet, the colour didn't go on the way it did the last time. And one of the cans of gold spray woudn't even come out properly, just in a stream instead of a spray. I'm thinking and SO hoping that my problem is just that I didn't let the roses dry hard enough. Does anyone know? And if this spray isn't going to work, what can I try instead? Pllleeeaase someone help me!

I've used their pearl spray before and didn't have a problem. It sounds like the cans are the problem not your flowers.

I would make sure the cans are well shaken, and that you are far enough way from the roses that they're getting lightly dusted instead of sprayed on. If you're too close the spray will puddle which may be why you're getting that wet effect.

The can that is streaming sounds like the nozzle is clogged. I'm not sure how the recommend cleaning the nozzle. You may want to call them and see. Normally I would run it under hot water but not sure if that works with the lusters.

In complete agreement with the first post, I have used them and never had a problem, although I found mine didnt last as long as I thought, but it sounds like the problem is with the can not the roses. Take it back to the store you bought it from or give them a call to ask them!

Before you store the used can, spray upside down until no spray comes out. Wipe nozzle clean and then store for next time.
I know that pushing down half way can make it drip and be blotchy. Make sure to push down completely.

Thank you all so much for your advice. It is so so helpful. I'm going to try everything you've all suggested. And I agree, they certainly don't give you very much in a can! I've already run out just trying to get the stupid thing to work. So, I'm getting three more cans tomorrow and I'll try again doing all the things you've all mentioned. I have a feeling I was holding it too close and that the other can was defective. Thanks again!

Okay, I got my new cans of gold luster spray today and just tried them (holding it pretty far away from the roses) and they look awesome! The only thing is though, one can only covered about 8 roses before I ran out, so it's going to be pretty expensive at $15 a can! Oh well, I'm just so happy it worked. I do think that those other cans were defective and/or I did just hold it too close. Thanks again for everyone's help!

I got two bad cans on my last order too. Sprayed like a squirt gun, not the fine spray.
