How Would You Turn This Into A Bigger Cake?

My friend's little girl (same one who asked for my fairy cake a couple of years ago, and the dragon-slayer book one last year) has become quite the little lady, and has requested a tea party birthday cake. She was hoping for a pretty teapot for her 40-serving cake.

Short of mounting a smaller teapot-shaped cake on a larger cake underneath as a "table" to get the servings, does anybody have a good idea of how to get that number of servings out of this cake? I was thinking I could stack a double-barrel (two-tiered) 8-inch round cake and carve it down, maybe making a more elongated teapot shape (instead of the more classic spherical shape that most people seem to use) ... one of those more hour-glassy tall pitcher shapes.

I would really rather not waste any more servings than I absolutely have to, so I'd hate to use an even larger cake just to carve it down to a sphere. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!

why not incorporate some tea cup cakes to make up the additional servings? They even sell silicone tea cup molds to bake right in. Just a thought...
