I have a question and this is probably going to sound quite silly. If you have someone that comes to you with a cake order and you have to buy a certain pan to make this cake. Do you charge them for having to buy the pan and if so how much?

I have had to buy many pans before when having specialty cakes.. I have never charged for the use of the pan because eventually you will use it again!!! If it is a pan you honestly doubt you would use again you could try to locate a store that does pan rentals. There is one where i am at and it charges $20 deposit that you get back on return of the pan and then $2 a day in which I would charge them the $ for the cake rental..

No, you don't charge them. It part of the cost of doing business.

True its part of the business cost but if its a pan you'd have no chance of using again or often try see if you can hire it. That will be more cost effective for you.
