Okay I'm going out on a whim here cause I know my forum post hardly every get responses.

Anyone have a recipe for butterless frosting. (Not buttercream) a kind similar to the white frosting in bakeries. The taste is so much different that buttercream and all my family and friends prefer that over the richer buttercream.

I've been searching the recipes section all day and can't find one. (That really is a crappy search feature icon_sad.gif )

Thanks in advance icon_smile.gif I love this sight

the bakeries usually use high ratio shortening in their icing.

If you are looking for a frosting recipe that's like the standard bakery frosting you find on most grocery store cakes unless it's the whipped frosting it's probably a shortening based buttercream, and as mentioned above is likely made with high ratio shortening.

My go-to buttercream is shortening based, and tastes identical - maybe not if tasted side by side with the bakery frosting, but it's darn close, and it's a variation on the Wilton Sno-White buttercream.

I'll try to find it actual written recipe and post it tomorrow. I've made it so much I just wing the measurements based on how much I need and what consistency I need.

Try Sugarshacks BC recipe! No air bubbles, and it uses high ratio shortening with coffee creamer (read it, sounds strange with the coffee creamer but its WONDERFUL) and no butter! It is super light and fluffy, and tastes WAAAAY better than a bakery store bought type frosting like Walmarts! I do not care for butter based buttercreams either (some may argue that its not buttercream at all!) Here is the links for the 4.5, 5, and 6 qt recipes! Have fun!
