I have just ordered The Mat for rolling and applying fondant to my cakes. Has anyone got/used this product and if so were you happy with its results?

Ditto! But don't store it upright in the tube. (they shipped it in a tube so I just store mine in that) lay the tube down...the edges of mine got crinkled sitting upright

I love The Mat; however, I tried a new fondant recipe, which was softer than usual, and it stuck in places, needless to say there were holes all over the cake. I removed it and kneaded a small amount of powdered sugar into the fondant, then it released like a dream. Lesson learned and it hasn't happened again.

I've found it takes a little more time for me to roll out the fondant with the mat but it's so helpful for placing fondant over large cakes. The fondant sticks to the mat until you've got it exactly where you want it. Krumbled-http://www.sweetwise.com/using-the-mat.html.

I like to roll my fondant very thin -- no more than an 1/8" --and I have to say the mat is difficult at this thickness. There isn't enough weight to the fondant to "fall off" as they say it should. Also, since there's some resistance as the mat is peeled off it tends to stretch the fondant even thinner, at least in spots, and sometimes tears. On the other hand, it's definitely helpful in covering large cakes. I recently did a 20" and it worked great the first time, but I rolled it thicker than normal to help ensure that it would. One other thing: I've found that if you leave a very thick edge/glob on the side that you'll be releasing first it helps get things moving. It's also true that it takes several uses--I'd say 1-2 dozen, before it's really conditioned and working well.

I bought my 1st one at a cake show a few months ago. Makes things so much easier. I absolutely love it. Wish I'd had this years ago.
