Hello all! I just updated and reorganized my website today. I would love if you would take a minute to look at it and give me your opinion and suggestions. I'm not a web designer so I'm sure I could use extra pair of eyes and expertise from you guys. Thank you in advance!

Very elegant. I love it! I guess the only thing I didn't *love* is so many tabs at the bottom. It's a great website though. Your work is awesome!

It would be easier to show you where the spelling errors are if the "copy" function was available to "paste" the corrected text to you.

Very nice. I also don't "love" the buttons at the bottom or the sparkles that rotate around the homepage image. The site is so elegant and those take away from your design. Your cakes are beautiful!

I had a look at your site. On the whole it looks really good, but I do have a few comments.

I don't care for moving, flashy things on web pages if avoidable. On the Welcome page, I would put one star at the upper left corner and one star at the lower right corner, no more and not moving.

On the About page, I would prefer that the text be scrollable (with a mouse scroll wheel) than having to grab the black ball and move it.

Near the bottom of the About page, wont should be won't.

At the beginning of the About text, where you're talking about the Eiffel Tower and the casino, I think it might be a good idea to have the picture be of one of those cakes.

About: "Want something that not only looks amazing, but tastes heavenly?" I think this should be "Do you want something......" The other sentences are complete and this one seems a little too casual with the subject and half of the verb only implied.

On Cake Flavors: The capitalization seems inconsistent: capitalize Chocolate but not white? Capitalize one Chocolate but not another? Again, I wish it would scroll.

All are my opinions only (except "won't"). I'm going to stop here because my lunch hour is about over. You may think I'm picky and too opinionated, but I am a professional editor, so I do this for a living. icon_smile.gif (Baking cakes is a hobby.) (And if you notice any typos here, well, nobody's perfect. icon_biggrin.gif )

Also, I am using IE7. Things may work differently in another browser.

Your cakes are *fabulous*! You are very, very talented.

I really liked it. Is it just me or are the photos of cakes a little blurry? Just my personal preference but I like crisp photos of cakes, especially if I am shopping for a cake. Your work is beautiful and crisp photos would show detail even better.

Besides the minor typos that have been mentioned above...I LOVE the fact that it's a "flash" site! I think flash sites are very professional looking! I also noticed that some of the pictures appeared to be blurry? Not sure if they were taken blurry or made to resemble a "soft focus" with photo editing software? I also prefer very crisp pics!

Great job!

I think overall you site looks great! When it first opened, I thought Mmmmm... chocolate, LoL!!

I have to agree that the rotating starts are a bit distracting on your main page. I think the picture you put up is so stunning is shines on it's own ( icon_smile.gif ).

There are quite a few tabs on there, it is a bit distracting... Maybe you could have one tab for "Gallery" or "Portfolio" and then have sub-pages for the different categories on that page? Also, it it could be just my browser window, but they didn't show up at first, I had to scroll down to see them, but didn't notice right away that i had to do that....

There is some great advice here! (I just asked for a critique of my own website today and got some excellent feedback) Good Luck!

Oh, and you just might want to take note that while Flash sites have a very professional look to them and you can do some really neat things... they aren't viewable on ipads or iphones (and probably other mobile devices). I had a flash site all set up, but made the decision to re-build in html.

Wow! I really appreciate the time you guys took to look at the site and give your feed back! I new I could count on you! So, I went back and changed things according with your opinions. I hope it is better. I don't like all the tabs on the bottom but until I figure out how to bundle some of the pages up, I will have to leave as is. Tomorrow morning with more time I will go back and play with it some more.
Again, your time was really appreciated!
Thank you! icon_biggrin.gif

The site was very slow for me, but lately I've noticed that Flash sites in general haven't been running as quickly as regular HTML-based sites. Not sure if it's my computer or a recent Flash update.

In addition to reducing the number of tabs, you may want to consider moving the tab bar to the top of the screen. If the browser window isn't big enough to see the tab bar, all you see is the picture on your welcome page with no navigational elements. Speaking of the welcome page, I would put some additional content on there, maybe your mission statement, a brief overview of your product line, which area you serve, perhaps some additional pictures, etc. Right now it is basically a splash page.

You also may want to remove the pictures of cakes with copyrighted characters in your gallery, unless you obtained permission from the copyright owner.

It's a great website. I love the damask background and your cakes are wonderful! Check your tagline on the welcome page, though. "Your" should be you and the current capitalization is inconsistent. Personally, it reads to me like a sentence and so the first word should be the only one capitalized. If you want it to look and read like a title, then all the words should be capitalized and there should be no exclamation point. icon_smile.gif Also, this is just MHO but it's a pet peeve of mine to have to hunt for a location. I like to see it on the home/welcome page.

Better home page. Maybe you could move the whole "Divine Design Cake Boutique" down so there isn't a white spot inside the first D.

For the filling flavors, I don't understand why you use some English "cream"s and some French "creme"s. Are they different?

I agree with the hyphen.

I believe this sentence needs to be consistent with using either singular or plural "filling(s)" and "cake(s)"...

ah...

Vanilla Butter Crème

Chocolate Butter Crème

Lemon Cream

Raspberry Cream

why are there accent marks over some of the Creme(s)? Also, Cream and Creme? I find this confusing, I am wondering what you mean by just Cream? Is it whipped cream and Raspberry extract? real Raspberries? I guess that part isn't that important but is it buttercream as well?

And Butter Creme/Cream should be together = Buttercream

I'm wondering what kind of buttercream? Is it basic buttercream? or do you offer French, Swiss, and Italian as well?

One other suggestion about your pictures, I like the way you had them on your 'Us At Work' page but, maybe for that page and the other you could switch them to a film strip view. Large picture on top and a film strip running across the lower half of the page that you can scroll over and/or click on the next picture.

I do like how you kept the page it's self to screen view for the most part. Also... I LOVE your Eiffel Tower Cake! Beautiful!

Do you mean to use liquor? Or are you referring to liqueur? I word mine liqueur and spirit infused... There is a big difference in the two.

There are enough suggestions already about the photos and text.

Just be aware that while Flash could be nice, these websites can't be accessed through iPads and iPhones, and lots of people carry those nowadays. Until Apple and Adobe agree on the subject (maybe never), your website will not be visible to millions of people.

And agree with scp1127. Liquor and liqueur...there is a difference.
