Yes I love it and it is well worth it if you are gonna be doing alot of fondant cakes or even one every now and then. Cathy has videos on youtube of how to season it and how to use it!!!

It has had great reviews and really isn't that expensive. I considered getting it, but decided not to because I don't do that many cakes and also I generally like to texture my fondant so I wouldn't be able to use it for the cakes where I want to do that.

Yes, totally worth it! At first I had trouble with it as well... it wasn't compatible with my MMF recipe (though countless others have had great success). I started using Satin Ice and it works like a dream... I think my favorite part about it is NO MESS! I used to have to use copious amounts of powdered sugar or cornstarch to roll out my fondant, but now I just take out my MAT, cover the cake and done, no big mess to clean up! You really can roll the fondant thinner... it doesn't dry out on you before you get it to the cake, if you have distractions (like 1-year-olds) it stays covered and you can get back to it after dealing with whatever... Because you didn't dust the surface, you have more time to "play" with it when you put it on the cake so you don't get tearing or elephant skin... The list goes on... maybe you can tell, I LOVE my MAT!

Check out the YouTube videos by Sweetwise, if you haven't already. The video was enough to have me sold, and it really does work just like in the video!

Totally worth it! I have two mats, one for my bigger cakes and another that I cut into smaller pieces for flower, etc. I love it! Can't wait til the one with the measurements comes out!

I have a round wilton mat w/ measurements on it and I just put that under my mat when I'm rolling out my fondant and it works great on getting the right size fondant for the cake I am doing!!!

When I use my mat, my fondant seems to stretch when I am taking it off the mat. I layer it over my cake and start to the peel the plastic back the fondant stretches and gets really thin. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe just roll the fondant a little thicker to begin with? Or maybe you are pulling the mat back to quickly? I don't have a problem with stretching (I use Satin Ice) but I do have to position the fondant a little further forward than I expect because as I pull the mat back the fondant pulls back and lays a little further than where I positioned it (does that make sense).

Hope that helps!

Sheilabelle, make sure you've seasoned it properly. It just sounds like your fondant is sticking to the mat and stretching as it pulls away from the plastic, making your fondant thin.

Thanks so much!

I always use MMF and I have no problems with the mat. However if you season it make sure you dont over do it otherwise it will also stick to the mat.

Any feelings on the proof of weather or not you must use "food safe" vinyl? My thoughts are that people eat off of vinyl table cloths all the time and if it were not safe could restaurants really use it? That being said, its only $4 a yard for 60x36 vinyl at joanns. I have not used it to serve anyone yet but last night I washed it, seasoned it and tried it with a small amount and it worked amazing! Please let me know your thoughts.

I love the Mat with MMF, regular fondant, even gum paste!! The Wilton mats are too thin for my liking to roll fondant but I do occasionally put them underneath the Mat if I need to be more exact about the size of what I'm rolling out. I am glad to be assured that it is food safe and also use non-latex gloves to color fondant as well. These days you never know who will have a food allergy and I'd rather not take any chances!
