I have a request for a retirement cake for a lady. She is retiring from our local water co. Design is completely up to me. Should I just do basic flowers and such, or do something water related ? If so any great ideas out there ? Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks, Lisa

I peeked at you cakes....fantastic work.... I don't know how big you want to go but maybe something to the effect of her going down a water slide of sorts, or a stream of water, her in a floatie going down the water... "By By Water Company"

Did they have distinctive water towers? I may have an order next year for something similar, and was planning on making a water tower or something that was springing a leak, and a figurine person pushing a cork into it.

I think Terrylee's advice on decorating is fantastic, funny and cute! Ppl love that type of stuff and the saying says it all! You should do that idea, from a water tower!

Hi Lisa,
Til you said sheet cake, I was thinking a big drop of water....
That's the extent of my creativity...

You could still make a sheet cake cut in the shape of a huge water drop. You could make a river of water going across the sheet cake with a figure of her floating down it. Sheet cakes sure do make it more difficult, but with enough creativity, I think you will be able to still come up with something cute!

You mentioned flowers. What you make the top of the sheet cake like kind of like a flower bed/garden (low growing flowers, of course) and then have a water spigot/faucet sticking out of the top over the flowers. You could put a bucket or watering can under it with her name on it or the company's name or a well wish...whatever you'd like really! Don't know if that's at all what you are going for, but I HTH.

Simple is just the water company's logo, with saying congrats..make it easy on you and do it simple like they said! Do waves of water on borders of cake to add a little touch.

You could do something like a water spigot out of RKT dripping onto the sheet cake, that leads into a pool of water or something.

Sheet cake in the shape of a water meter? You could put her years of service in the little meter window.
