I was woundering if anyone had a recipe for a really good smith island cake and the frosting that goes with it. I have tired several different recipes and I just did not care for them. They did not taste like the ones that come from smith island. Thanks for the help.

We have a second home there (nearby) just north on Kent Island. I have not seen one particular recipe. It is more of a style. The most popular is chocolate with yellow cake, but just like any other recipe, even for sale, there are good and bad. Ther is supposedly an original recipe, but it is a adaptation of a torte. The place that calls itself the "original" is just using it in the name. They are not original.
