My husband is turning 33 and he made a comment that I never decorate a cake for him. So...any ideas for a decorated cake that isn't a theme? I'm drawing a blank.

My hubby gets theme cakes even though he doesn't have a party. I just make things based on what he's interested in at the time...for example, a cake painted to look like a target with a gumpaste gun on top.

The truth is, they want us to go to as much trouble for them as they see us going to for other people or for the kids.

Non-themed guy cakes I tend to like best have simple patterns to them. I am just a fan of argyle and it tends to be a good masculine pattern. You can use his favorite colors, or a sports teams colors he likes. It can be paired with other simple patterns like stripes or dots, or looks good with other solid colors.

I like the argyle idea! Thanks!
