I have a last minute birthday cake request for this saturday, a banana split cake!? I figured I would use a banana cake, chocolate BC and covered in chocolate ganache, but what about the filling? I have heard of using a pineapple filling for the banana cake?? Is this right? and would this give it a "banana split" type flavor! Oh please help I have to go shopping in the morning for stuff to make!!
anyone!?!?! What about the pineapple and cream cheese filling?? I have read nice reviews on it, but how would that go with all the chocolate I will have on the outside of the cake!!! Please someone help me! I have no time to test and I do not want to be embarrassed if front of friends and family!
What about doing a pound cake ( vanilla) and then putting the flavors of different icings between the layers. You could do strawberrys in a glaze, pineapple glaze then chocolate ganache on top with dollops of strawberry and pineapple glaze, marshmallow topping and nuts on top OH and a few marachino cherries. Just a thought on how to do it..

Oh yumm!! I already baked a banana cake, but its a subtle banana flavor..WASC style...sooo I think this idea could work!! I think I will do it
We did these at work. Three layers of banana cake (we used the Duncan Hines banana cake) with pineapple filling between the first and second layer and strawberry filling between the second and third layer. The whole thing was finished with whipped cream Bettercream and then a chocolate fudge bucket icing was warmed up until it was just warm enough to run and poured over the edges of the cake. It was popular in the summer.
