How Far In Advance Is Too Far?

HI everyone,
Ok- I made a batch of fondant mainly to use for some roses for an upcoming bridal cake next weekend , and to practice with. I know this stuff isn't the cheapest to keep making for practice. So my question is ...
My daughter is getting married end of Aug. Can I go anhead and make roses and store them, make some ducks for my brothers wedding Oct 1st and store them. Is this crazy? TOO LONG? I can't see wasting it. I really don't expect anyone to eat the roses and ducks anyway. Am I totally wrong and it's a bad idea?
thanks for comments.
The premade stuff can stay in an airtight container for about 3 month. I'm not sure about the homemade
I've kept mine in the freezer for months. I just wrap it twice in plastic wrap and then in a zip lock freezer bag and it's just fine. I just take it out the night before I need it and let it thaw overnight. I've never made anything with it and tried to freeze it though....
what do you think about making the ducks and flowers ahead of time and letting them air dry till Aug. Maybe in a shoe box or something. Would people really try and eat them? Would they look horrible then?
thanks
There could be color issues. Some, if not all colors probably would fade. I suggest you fz it as the others mentioned, then make your figures/roses about 3-6 weeks in advance.
