Has anyone tried this accessory? I am wanting to get it, on sale at Macy's right now. My question, if I try to make BC with it, can I still get a bubble free BC with it constantly scraping the sides of the bowl? Just want to make sure I will use it before I buy it!

I use the Metro beater blades and they don't add bubbles. If you are talking about the ones with "teeth", I have seen bad reviews on these... mainly the batter or frosting flying all over the kitchen.

LOL no, no teeth on this one, kinda like having a rubber spatula on the beater its self, saving you the time and energy of stopping to scrap the bowl..I will like you!

I have one for my KA and one for my Cuisinart. I love them both. I haven't noticed any bubbles in my frostings due to using the beater blades. I love the fact that I don't have to stop as often and scrape the sides down.

Take a look at the Metro's on amazon. They are cheaper and I have three... one on every KA. They are the best little present you will give to yourself. Amazon has more reviews. The one on Macy's only has one, but there may be some for that one on amazon too.

The one at Macy's looks like a new product from KA meant to compete with the BeaterBlade. I see in the description that it "maintains the integrity of the mixer"....may be legaleeze for meaning that it won't void the warranty??

I have the BeaterBlade and I love it. My mixer is way out of warranty, so it's a non-issue for me. I don't even know where my old metal KA blade is icon_eek.gif

I called KA about this when I bought mine. It only voids the warranty if it caused the problem. So you can take that either way I guess....
BUT ... I love mine!! Use it all the time!

By the way, a little off topic, but recently someone posted that Williams-Sonoma was no longer offering their lifetime guarantee. A few weeks ago my Pro610 KA broke(gears). They replaced it immediately and the new one also has a lifetime warranty.

Thanks for starting this thread, Confection CC! Every time I see that Flex Edge Beater I seem to come up with some excuse not to order it. After reading all the replies I've decided I have to have one. This Momma loves new toys too!

I have the "Side Swipe" http://tinyurl.com/6896ocx and love it. I don't know if this the one referred to as having teeth, but I have no problem with flying frosting. In fact, the teeth are angled so that they scrape everything down, back to the bottom of the bowl. When I tried the Beater Blade, as well as with the standard paddle that comes with the KA, I've always had problems with frosting rising up the sides out of range of the blades. And while I didn't have to scrape the sides, I still had to keep pushing the frosting back down the sides, back to where the blade would hit it. The Side Swipe completely eliminates this problem. I can turn it on, walk away and never even need to look at it until it's all done.
