I'm asking about those clear plastic candy molds that are frequently seen at Jo Ann's and Hobby Lobby. Can you use Marzipan, gum paste, or fondant in them, and make figures that way?

I am curious about that as well. I wanted to make some sea shells and really considered the molds as a cheaper alternative. I was concerned about how to get the items out of the molds. The molds I saw looked kind of flimsy and I thought they might be damaged if the fondant could not be removed easily. Would be interested to hear the advice from others.

If you're talking about chocolate molds, yes they can be. Dust with PS and they will release easier. Popping them in the freezer for a few minutes might also help.

Most PS csan be brushed off with a soft brush or rubbing with shortening.

I spray my molds with cooking spray and the fondant comes out very easily. HTH

They can be used for anything BUT HOT SUGAR!!! They work great for fondant/gumpaste, chocolate, candy coating, etc. Just be mindful of the temperature of your work substance.
