Hi everyone.

Just wondering what types of cakes people use for specific tasks like carving for speciatly cakes (you wouldn't use a crumbly cake for example), stacking tiers etc.

Thanks for the help icon_smile.gif

Dawn's vanilla butter cake is great for carving and stacking. I have also had tremendous success with DH butter golden box mix. If you are wanting to carve a chocolate cake, or any other less dense cake, put it in the freezer for a little while first and carve it while it is still cold. This helps a lot with crumbs too.

I've had fairly good luck with carving most varieties, however be sure to hand mix with a whisk as opposed to putting in your electronic mixer, or hand mixer.

I have friends that only use pound cake variations when carving.

What is the reason for hand mixing instead of using an electric?
