How To Make Isomalt Window Panes With No Mold??
Sugar Work By caketographer Updated 1 Aug 2013 , 8:00pm by Hajnalka
Hi everyone! I'm attempting to make a hockey themed cake for someone and wanted to make the glass boards around the rink. I have the isomalt sugar but no molds. Is there any way to pour it onto a baking sheet and then score it with an exacto knife and break it in to smaller strips?? Or are there any suggestions on what to use as a mold?? Thanks!!
You'll likely have no luck trying to score it and make pieces. It will most likely break. I'd suggest a couple of things: If you have a cookie cutter that's the right size, lightly (VERY lightly) oil the sides and pour into that. A second option is to use something like play-dough to make your shape and pour it into that.
Thanks so much!! I will for sure try the playdough trick. don't have a cookie cutter big enough to make a mold. Thanks again!
You can used aluminum foil shaped to the window size and lightly spray it with spray oil.
