I have used Satin Ice which I don't care for and Fondarific. Fondarific is good but pricey. Can anyone tell me if Fondx is easy to work with and taste good? You get double the fondant for the price. I have a large cake order in two weeks and need a lot of fondant and don't think I want to try to make it myself this time.
I bought some Fondx Elite to try out, and I like it. It is softer than Satin Ice, but it does taste better. I just add some powdered sugar to it to thicken it up a little but it rolls out great and is very easy to work with (plus is has a great taste to it!). The colors are very vibrant too!
I've been scared to use it because I've heard thru the grapevine that Fondx is notorious for colors fading. I've got a few friends in my cake club that have had bad experiences with it. One of them woke up the morning of a cake delivery and her cake went from pink to mauve. The other one had a fondant disc to do a painting demonstration on it, and a teeny portion of it was in the sun.. it changed from a purple/gray color to a teal color in two hours.
I haven't experienced it myself, so I can't say first hand.
Have you tried this? I like it and the flavor is good. Jennifer Dontz sells it and she adds cho. hers and says it is wonderful to work with. Her site is sugardelites.com. Her email address [email protected]. she is wonderful to work with and gets her orders out fast. She is also very helpful and can answer questions and is willing to help you in what ever way she can. She sells the fondant in 5# bags.
To my knowledge, Jennifer Dontz uses Pettinice, not Fondx.
As for Fondx, I love it... the stretch is great! Elite is great on sugar cookies!
Yes, Pinkpiggie she does. I was expecting the subject line that I put at the top to show up so that people would see that I was talking about a different fondant. It didn't and I just now realized that. I do not know why they bother having you put a subject in the subject line if it isn't going to show up and tell people what you are talking about. I have been doing the forums on and off for a while and just now discovered that what I put in the subject line isn't showing up. So please excuse me for not making it clear what I was talking about. Yes, Jennifer Dontz uses pettineice fondant and I have used it a few times since buying from her. You might try that. I hope that this is clearer.
NP Jules. I do use Pettinice and J. Dontz's fondant as well. The one I like the least is Satin Ice. I do buy it though in the colors just because CK sells it, but I end up adding one of the softer fondants to it so I can actually use it.
I love Fondx, it is very easy to work with and tastes good also. I used for the first time last month it was so easy to work with and I was able to get a very smooth surface. I don't think you will be disappointed quite honestly.

I don't like Fondx...I bought a bunch since it was on sale only to have it all be bad! After opening 4 buckets of it, I contacted the company I purchased from and they gave me a full refund. The problem I had was little bits of hard material all through the fondant (little rock like substances...almost like solid hard sugar). I will stick with Satin Ice.
You can't really fault the fondant if it was bad. Truthfully, that is probably on sale. I wish you would try it again. I have NEVER been a fan of fondant until I started making my own. Well, after many frustrations later, I decided to give Fondx a try because I got a sample of it in an order I placed. I LOVE it. It doesn't have a greasy, shortening aftertaste and I find it to be not as sweet as my marshmallow fondant.
I've been using FONDX for quite a while and I LOVE it. It tastes so good and is very easy to work with.
