I want to use gelatine to make windows on a tractor I am making for a birthday cake. I have mixed 2½ parts water to 1 part gelatine bu want to know how do I make it stay flat without any creases in it. What would you pour it onto. I have used a chopping mat but you have to be really quick before it goes thick and doesn't spread further. It is beginning to curl and maybe I won't get large enough flat pieces to make the windows. Help please.

Hmm I've never done that before but I'd try pouring on a silicone mat or silpat. My cake supply store carries gelatin sheets already made. They are probably about 8"x4" in size. Good Luck!

When I made gelatin sheets to make bows, I used acetate sheets. But you have to make sure you put the acetate on a large piece of paper and as you spread it on you have to continue off the acetate onto the paper so the acetate sheet gets stuck to the paper. Hope that makes sense? If I just spread the gelatin onto the acetate and not the paper to it would curl up.

I use these too - much easier. I can get them at the grocery store and even organic ones at the health food store!
