Can anyone give me any idea how she does these boxes ?? And how she does the piping on the top ?? I am in awe of her work and its great way to practice piping - I would love to be able to do something like this for people - its so unique and special !!! I have not PM her as she states she does not speak english.
Or if anybody knows what I should google - I have not come up with these 3d gingerbreads yet.

To do a cookie box is pretty straightforward -- let's take her example of a paisley cutter. Cut two cookies from the paisley cutter. Then cut a 1 inch strip and make it long enough to curve around the outside of the cutter. Place on top of one of the uncooked cookies and glue with water (leaving the cutter inside. Bake all cookies. Now you have a "box" and a cookie for a lid.

As for her piping, it looks like pattern transfer to me using royal icing with a teeny tiny tip (maybe a 1 or smaller.)

I think it takes a ton of patience! They are beautiful and labor intensive. I'm pretty sure I couldn't get anybody to pay me what it would take to make one of those. But if you don't need to worry about that, the I would say just go for it and practice. Start with royal icing and a piece of wax paper if you don't want to make the cookie.

It looks like she's used a pattern and piped out the outline than flooded it with the royal icing, than piped the rest of the raised design on top.

Thankyou for the replies. Yes they look very very custom and time consuming icon_surprised.gif So a lot of work to make just one of these even if you have several cutters. I might get a few cheap round cutters and have a play. There is a cake competion coming up in a couple of months for the local country show - I beat THE local cake lady so I got to do something wow for this one and maybe a decorated cookie box with flowers on the lid as a topper might put me over the top in the stakes icon_wink.gif

I would say most of it was more time consuming than hard and I would think that you need a very very steady hand.

i was looking at other pictures of her, and are extremely perfect
I dont think is made tottaly by hand

This is so cool! Thanks so much for the explanation! Now I really want to do one... Where would I find a giant cookie cutter - I have never seen them at Michaels's? TIA!
