I disagree, she's already a Bridezilla with absolutely no regard for Takeelah or the fact that she was getting her cupcakes at the cost of materials only. Let's not forget the initial statement by the bride: "This taste like cake, not a cupcake."

Let sleeping Bridezillas lie... icon_biggrin.gif

You should tell her to go around and try other places...and when they hit her with that HUGE price tag for cupcakes and a cake for a wedding...Ask her how your free cupcakes taste in comparison.

People are so rude and entitled. I would drop her.

You can disagree but if I was out $245 I'd certainly try to get it back.

I agree, too. While she may not reimburse for the cupcake stand since she wants a larger one, why can't she still use the monogram, candy, and tablecloth Takeelah already ordered? Then Takeelah would be rid of those items, have the money back and can either keep the cupcake stand or sell it on ebay or craigslist. Even if she takes a loss on the cupcake stand, at least she wouldn't be out ALL of the money.

If Takeelah worries about hubby's work relationship or bridezilla won't do the right thing, the candy can be donated to a children's home - these kids don't often get treats and they would probably really be appreciated. The other items may sell at a decent price on ebay or craigslist - again, just to get part of the money back. Good luck!

The very first sentence of Tekeelah's post is: I am baking for a wedding as a favor (at my expense) and this bride has never even thanked me.

Send the email, eat the cost and let the lady go to Wal-Mart. Chalk it up to a lesson learned. She's a nightmare.

in the interest of being sensitive to your husbands plite of having to work with this guy.. here is how i would handle it...

" i am so sorry but i have just gotten a couple of paying orders for wedding cakes for your date.. now i understand that i did say i would do yours for free, but in order to still do yours for free, i do have to do these paying ones, so... my time for your date will be extremely tight, so here is what i am able (willing) to do to accomadate your free cake/cupcakes., here is your choices for flavors (give her 2)... I understand completely if you wish to change to another baker in light of these restrictions."

I would keep the stand, stamps, and tablecloth and nicely box and WRAP the candy and take it to the wedding as their "gift"... with a sweet note that since you spent all the $$$ on "their" things, you are sure they would enjoy them after the honeymoon! icon_evil.gificon_mad.gificon_evil.gif

I wouldn't lie (and Takeelah has already stated she's strictly a hobby baker) so telling Bridezilla she sells wedding cakes only complicates the issue. And who knows but that this intentional misinformation would be spread by Bridezilla and cause Takeelah and her DH even more problems in the future....

I think Takeelah's response to the BTB who wasn't happy with the 100 free cupcakes offered and now demanded 200 was perfect:

So, I sent them an email last night explaining this.

Everything should be fine between my husband and his coworker and he will never know that I almost bowed out before that because of his blushing bridezilla. We all know the truth though, don't we?! icon_razz.gif

I LOVE THAT--- Just wish it was can we put Bridezillas to sleep...at least until after the wedding ha ha

But I am afraid you are stuck with the stand, stamps, tablecloth and candy since she was going to cheapskate you out of the whole shooting match in the first case... thumbsdown.gif The elusive Bridezilla is very adept at ducking and dodging and no amount of frosting will make her stick to the right thing by offering to pay you back. icon_evil.gif

Just ebay it or donate it or recycle it somehow. thumbs_up.gif It really sucks to get stuck like that but I wouldnt aggravate the situation any more because it will reflect badly on your hubby. Remember the elusive Bridezilla is very cunning in that she will seek out to destroy all that displease her during her "Shining Time" even if it is way later down the road. Unless you routinely associate with this couple then just use the Ronco method - set her and forget her.

If you do attend the wedding, just be polite tapedshut.gif and remember that all Bridezilla's suffer in the end because nothing is ever great enough to satisfy their craving for wedding dominance. Me personally, I wouldnt even bother to get her a gift, or I would definitely give the happy couple something more along the tastes of the unhappy groom. icon_twisted.gif

Happy Caking icon_lol.gif ... Beware of the 'Zilla!!!! icon_evil.gif

WOW!! Just WOW! You gotta love people like that. I'm glad you escaped relatively unscathed. It's one thing to be out some $$, it's another to lose your sanity.

I had a friend that loved to provide, ahem, *feedback* on [free] baked goods I gave her. Not things like too dry, too moist, not fluffy enough or other things I could use but more along the lines of "my son took a home ec class and he thinks you should use more nutmeg / vanilla" or "I shared [choco macademia nut cookies] with my co-workers and none of us liked them. We don't eat macademias!" She hasn't received anything free since. icon_twisted.gif
