Hi all!

Hoping someone can help me! I've been asked by a friend to make her son a Noddy cake (not sure if they have him in the US, but a very British and French children's character!).. anyway... I digress... The cake will be rectangular with either figurines that I've bought or will make them out of modelling paste, and I'll create the rest of the "scene" like road/flowers/grass etc from fondant/frosting....

However, she had seen a cake where there are balloons near him.... She sent me a picture... and they seem to look like they are clear.... is there a specific way to do this? I'm still fairly new to all this... but am willing and eager to try/learn.... if I can make them clear... great...

if not.. will just resort to using opaque colors... Does anyone have any tips either way? Is it best to just make them using modelling paste on a wire? Any way to make them look "natural"?

Thanks in advance!

Vicky

Have you looked up or seen gelatin bubbles? Maybe something like that would work.
