i want to make the thing 1 and thing 2 cuppies with the cotton candy but have heard it will melt. i live ni a very humid area but the cake table will be in doors. is there a way to make it work?
Do you have a photo? Can you assemble all the pieces ahead of time and then just put them together on site?
Just bag the blue cotton candy and put it on when you get there...being that its inside they should be just fine unless they have you setting up inside a sauna....lol
i tried to use cotton candy on top of cupcakes for easter for bunny tails, put the balls of candy on the cuppies and they immediately started melting. so i decided to take and ball it up and stick a toothpick into it then push it into the top of the cupcake, leaving just enough out of it to keep the candy from touching the buttercream.
I made the thing 1 and 2 cupcakes for my sons bday. I did not have a problem with melting at all. I frosted and put the icing on at the last minute, but they lasted for the whole party and had leftovers that didn't melt either. Maybe it depends on the cotton candy you use. I used the bagged carnival kind, not freshly made. Good luck.
a friend of mine who lives in this area did the thing 1 and thing 2 cuppies and her melted within 3min of putting it on. that's why i'm nervous. i think she used cream chex frosting from the can which is more moist than bc. if i use a good bc maybe that will help. i did a wedding cake last week and the humidity almost killed it. we are staying indoors though.
oh and i was wondering if it would be better if i did fondant on top of the cuppies and tried to "glue" the cotton candy on with everclear instead. would that work? i'm pretty sure they wouldn't melt that way.
being that it's a kids party i don't want toothpicks in the cuppies.
to the last poster, what kind of icing did you use?
