Hello everyone,
I am in the middle of a recipe and just found out the heavy cream that was in my fridge 2 days ago is no longer there.
I do have skim milk and lots of butter. I've heard that I can use those two ingredients and make a substitute for heavy cream in the recipe.
Here's what the original recipe says to use:
Caramel Topping:
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tsp. sea salt
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. orange extract
Any suggestions for a substitution?
Thank you very much for your help.

There's this:

There's also this:

But, really it's whole or full fat milk they're talking about. The first link indicates an addition if you have low fat milk. Skim is pretty low fat though.
I've never tried this either.
Thank you very much. I tried one of the recipes in the links and it was yummy!
