Can I Paint Marshmallow Black For A Wrestling Ring?

I need to make a wrestle mania cake and i saw the idea of using marshmallow. my question is, how do i get the marshmallow black for the rings? I used the color mist spray, but it drained off the marshmallow. Any ideas.
Are you using Marshmallow Fondant? You can color the fondant itself... it just takes a LOT of color to make it black... You should be able to spray it with the color mists though (I haven't tried though)... maybe you need to do a few light coats to get the coverage you need and let it dry between? It shouldn't run off though, unless the surface you are spraying is too greasy?
I would dust as much of the corn starch off of the marshmallow as you can, and stick a toothpick in it as a handle. Then I would mix some of my black gel coloring with either vanilla extra or everclear or vodka and paint the color on the marshmallow.
If you use vanilla it will melt the marshmellow-tried it on my daughter's cake, as will any other liquid. Marshmellows are basically sugar so if they get wet enough, they're going to melt. Best best would be an airbrush or can of edible spray-be careful because if you get too close it will melt the marshmellow then too. I've had good luck with that. Otherwise, I would apply the black gel on directly, but be prepared for it to take on a green tint especially if it's in the light.
What i would do is make my own marshmallows (there's recipes on google, i bet) and add black gel food coloring to the mix before the marshmallow sets. That seems the easiest to me.
Yes you can. I did that exact thing last year. I used the large marshmallows that you buy, then just colored them with black food color with a brush. Go ahead and put then on the stick or whatever you are going to use first because it will be harder to put them on after they are colored without getting black fingers! lol
Hi Guys, thnks for all your ideas. I did the wrestling cake. I tried with the color mist, but it didn't work. Atleast I thought i didn't work, perhaps because i didn't have time for it to dry in between. I used the wilton color and painted the marshmallow black, it worked, but i realize you wouldn/t be able to eat it, so what i did, i sprayed the marshmallow with the airbrush color. and it worked perfectly. thnks again.
