I'm not looking for a standing ovation or to have someone gush over the cakes I make them....but a little bit of an "ooooh....thats so cute!" would be nice. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hubby was with me when I delivered the last cake I made (the green/heart topsy turvy cake) and I got nada. Even he said..."geeze...not much of a reaction, huh?"

(thanks for letting me moan & groan a bit....)

I don't blame you. I've only made one so far, but I worked HARD, (as you all do!). I got all of the ooo's and aahh's from my family. They are great! These cakes don't appear magically or one piece kit. It takes talent and practice to put out a product you are proud of. Gail icon_smile.gif

Oh, that stinks! Your cakes are wonderful, too, and deserve oohs and ahhhs! thumbs_up.gif

Do you charge for them? Maybe that's why? People figure if they paid, that's your affirmation?

I do charge...but you know how it is....you spend DAYS planning and thinking about it....you spend HOURS baking, mixing, rolling, cutting, decorating, re-doing. Its a little bit of *you* out there...

Even my husband knows that when I ask "what do you think?", he's supposed to oooh and ahhh! That sucks that you didn't get the reaction you wanted. I think we NEED this reaction, it tells us that the hours of work were worth it.

My favorite is when a wedding photographer comments to you about how awesome the cake looks. They see a lot of cakes! icon_smile.gif You know you did great, your husband knows, and at some point you'll get someone that turns cartwheels they are so happy about their cake. And you'll feel lots better... icon_smile.gif

Just wait until you start delivering weddings (if you don't now.) You never even see the bridal couple and rarely hear from them afterward. If you do it's either accolades of appreciation or someone complaining. But most of the time I get nothing because there is staff running around setting up and they see wedding cakes every weekend and who cares?

I set up - go home.

ta-da!
