Hey everyone, I am finally taking the leap to a dessert business. My primary focus will be cupcakes as, that is my passion but, will also offer packagable sweet treats like cake balls, almond bark, gourmet marshmallows etc.

Here is what I have so far as a name / logo:



And I would love some feedback.. Can you tell how it is pronounced, is it evident at a glance what the business is, etc. etc.

The Q comes from my last name..Quinn..and the fact that my friends/family have called me SuzieQ from as far back as I can remember and, it was solidified when I married my husband and officially became a SuzieQ.

Interesting name, and I like the logo. My first impression on pronunciation is "quakes", but for some reason the graphic over the "e" makes me think of an ice cream sundae (with a cherry on top). A more complete stylized picture of a cupcake might work to replace the existing graphic.

I got that it said cakes. I'm not a fan of the cupcake thingy though. Maybe its the colors. Looks like a tree sorta. Maybe if you go ahead and finish out the cupcake behind the letters? I do the name play thing also. My shop is named Kakes by Kim.

I love the look of it but my first thought wasn't cakes. It was quakes and made me think of Quakers. the cupcake; I too thought of as a tree. So whole impression, Quakers and the tree of life as a first impression.

Might want to re-think it a little. Sorry.

Former marketing company owner... nice logo, but, at a glance, I don't get it as cakes. Looks like Qakes. You only have a fleeting moment to get someone's attention and to let them know what you are all about. So, in my opinion, a big no. Look at logos od other companies. Do you get what they are, or do you skip it? Learn from the big guys.

Yep, "Quakes" came to mind first. Not a thing I would lie to be associated with considering the current situation in Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

I like to colors and teh style in general - young and fresh.

Can you change the Q to a C? The logo is pretty and eye-catching. Plus, the word, "Cakes", and the picture of the cupcake give the whole story, if that is what you do. You could add a a flourishl or something on the bottom to keep the style.

I think you need to get rid of the Q. I don't read cakes at all. I read Quakes. Changing the Q to a C would make a big difference.

Thank you everyone for the FEEDBACK!!! I was thinking the company name would be pronounced quakes. I will definitely have to sit back down to the drawing board and, rethink. My husband's suggestion was Sweet Suzie Q or Suzie Q Confections but, I just find those a bit TOO obvious so, was trying to come up with something a bit unique different.

Oh and the idea behind the word quake was sort of the bliss/tremble when you eat a sweet bite of a cupcake!!

Sometimes completely going in a different direction will help you to find a new idea. You liked the idea from a last name and a childhood nick name. Try thinking a different way and see if you come up with something else that you like even more. That might help.

What about Q Cakes? I also would finish the bottom of the cupcake. Make it light so it will show behind the letters. Love the colors, eye catching.

I too thought it said Quakes...I would do SuzieQ cakes instead...as the idea behind the quakes may not be understood by most customers the way you explained it here.I also didn't get the conection of you tremble when you eat a cupcake.I just doesn't sound like a cakery name...Sorry...

No need to be sorry!! I love the honest cut out the bull feedback!! It is always hard to get brutal feedback from people that you know in RL! LOL

So, my second sit down at the drawing board has me considering:

Crave Confections
Swirlz
Quiver Cakes
Cupcravery

I'm not 100% thrilled with any of them (LOL). I had seen somewhere Mad Batter (which I love) but, not only is there already a Mad Batter Bakery, they are LOCAL!! I also thought of "Amuse" (as in Amuse Bouche) but, to me that would be more savory bites.

You are on the right track. When the right one hits you, you will know.

I love "Swirlz" but then again, I always love single word names: Sprinkles, Crumbs, Hallmark, Cinnabon, Carvel...list is endless.

I also like one-word names because later on you can add any thing to it: cupcakery, bakery, confections, etc. without having to change it drastically.

Well, it is still a work in progress but, have decided to work around Crave. The cupcake I hope looks more "cupcakey" I'm just messing around with color and stuff cuz, the business name seems to blend a bit to much with the background cupcake...

I think you are doing a great job. I love it. I also have a cupcake in my logo even though I have all bakery items... from sticky buns to fondant wedding cakes. The cupcake is recognized at a glance and it is hard for people not to look twice. Who doesn't wish they were eating dessert? Now you need a tag line that will explain all you do and how you do it... a mission statement, usually in seven words or less. Run it right below your logo for instant recognition of what your company offers. You are halfway there.

I love the third version. It's cleaner than the other two. And I totally love that name.

I like the name Crave with the cupcake logo, but are you sure you don't want to include the word "Confections" with it? I always like it when a retail name tells me exactly what kind of business it is.

I like the first one, it looks "liquidy" and the name pops more! But all 3 are good!!!

In Akron, Ohio there is a restaurant named Crave and it is so good. Before you finalize the logo and name try to get the name registered. You would be surprized how many names are already taken.
