Hello everyone....I was wondering about fondant. When u make fondant homemade do you refrige it before using or use it right away? And how do u get rid of the powder look when your decorating. To give it that nice , clean smooth look??? Any tips please let me know. icon_biggrin.gif

What kind of fondant are you making? I make MMF and it does not have to be refrigerated. (For long term storage of leftover fondant, you can freeze it.)

If it is too powdery, then work in more shortening. Also, I always grease my hands and utensils with shortening when working with the fondant.

If you want a really shiny finish, brush on pearl dust after you are done.

I tried using powdered sugar when I started using fondant, I didn't have any luck getting it off of the fondant. I always use shortening now.

A steamer makes your fondant nice and smooth looking.
