All I've got tonight is 1 doz cupcakes for pickup tomorrow.

And I'm torturing myself by watching DC Cupcakes. This show is awful. I've got to switch stations.

Have a 9" carrot cake with honey cinnamon cream cheese waiting for me to finish it. (I can't get off of CC tonight, not that that doesn't happen every other night too.)

Tomorrow I'm working on a 3 layer cake. Bottom is 9x13 vanilla with a two layer 9" chocolate and 6" single layer vanilla on top of that. Then I need to whip up some lemon cupcakes.

Do you watch Amazing Wedding Cakes? Oh my. That's my new food porn. I DVR it and then watch it at night when I'm supposed to be doing other things. I have about a dozen episodes right now that I keep re-watching. Try that instead of what you're watching now.

I think I've caught that show. Is that the one where they give the price of the cake? Unfortunately I don't DVR.

Nothing again for me tonight. I did a leprechaun hat a couple of days ago, though. OSU is still in the game, Leah. See? You're making me keep track of this stuff now. lol

I had a call today from a mom asking for a "square Ky-u" cake for her son's 3rd birthday. A what? I'm sorry, Im not familiar with a Ky-u cake, I said. The cartoon character she said. OHHHH! I said, like suddenly I knew what she was taking about. Got some details on how big, flavors, etc. and told her I'd call her back with a price. I immediately sought out all the people I work with that have little kids. Finally determined she wants a Caillou cake -hahahaha! What did we do before the internet??!
So, long story to say I'm working on a 3DCaillou figurine and the cat. I'm sure the cat has a name to, but I don't know what it is yet!.

I have some cookies to finish for a get-together on Sunday. I did a batch this afternoon w/edible images. These just need frosting.

Tomorrow I need to do soda bread for the Sunday thing (Irish brunch w/a bunch of friends).

I had hoped to do a cake but I think I'm running out of time & energy to get that done along with the "ARRRRGGGHHH--Company's coming!" Cleaning binge.

Earlier in the week I did a variation on the "I am Baker" swirled rose cake (it's in my gallery). DH took it to work where his co-workers inhaled it. 10in round gone in less than 20min. I swear, he works with locusts.

I am pulling out the cricut to experiment with it for my daughter's 18th birthday coming up. She doesn't want a decorated cake but just a hummingbird cake with cream cheese icing. Mom can't just leave it that way I have to go overboard with a dz cupcakes. icon_lol.gif

Two weeks in a row with something to contribute! I'm working on a butterscotch rum cake for my dad's birthday. Nothing fancy just tastes good.

Leah- That show is the worst. I can only take them in 5-10 minute doses. MOMMMMEEEEEE

I think that might be "Fabulous Cakes" on TLC. That's a pretty good one too. Way more "behind the scenes" than the others. They talk about pricing, cake structure, etc. I DVR that one too. (I won't even get into my addiction to Top Chef! That's borderline obsessive at this point.)

I am working on a Mickey Mouse Cake for my friend's son's first birthday tomorrow. So far all is good, and i am hoping I make it to bed before 3 am tonight. It would be the first time all week. The worst part about that is, the girls have to be up at 6:45 no matter what time mommy stayed up till. UUGGG!!!! But tomorrow is Saturday, whew...no school!!!!

Hi...My first post in the Friday night club! I've already sent out 2 cakes today, and I have 5 to decorate tonight still. I had 3 brides over this week also for tasting. I'm sick of cake!! I still have 3 to go. 2 Over the Hills and one #14 cutout. I'm sooooooo tired right now! I don't want to get off this chair! icon_sad.gificon_cry.gif Yet....here I go.

I'm listening to the Roast of Donald Trump. It's terrible.

I just made my first batch of MMF. When I was coloring it, I noticed it wasn't very....I guess pliable would be the word. When I tried stretching it to incorporate the color it just broke and didn't pull out into a nice little string. Sigh.....dunno what I did wrong or how to fix it. It's just for cutting out decorations so maybe it will work for what I need it for.

Good to see so many people busy!

And I also have a Top Chef addiction! I have Ohio St. picked to win the whole thing Cheatize! However, with Louisville losing in the first round, that bracket is pretty much blown.

Yeah, I don't know any of those cartoon characters either.

Yes, the cat is Gilbert and I will second the vote on how awful that show is. My SiL actually banned it when her girls started copying his annoying whine. My youngest has thankfully never watched it.

It sounds like you worked too much PS into it. If you are only doing cut-outs you should be OK. You might need to warm it up a bit in the micro. Go slow with that--low power, short time, just enough to get it pliable so you can roll out a piece to work with.

Ha, ha! My daughter's nephew was getting into Barney. I picked up half a dozen used Pooh movies. The lil dude is all over Pooh now. There's another PBS show that I can never remember it's name. It's got furry muppet and he draws out his words. He sounds stoned. I can't believe parents let their kids watch a stoned muppet. lol

I'm sitting here doing some reading on baking as I'm always willing to learn more. It really frustrates me how much conflicting info is out there. There's also stuff that I just don't agree with. For example: rolling cookie dough on sugar instead of flour. Sure, you don't add more flour so your cookies won't be as tough, but won't the sugar on the outside of a cookie burn? How about dipping plastic cutters in vegetable oil instead of flour for a cleaner cut? Won't the edges cook faster? One more: use egg white before baking, brush on cookie, then sprinkle on colored sugar. Won't the sugar dissolve?

I'm so confused.

Making roses and leaves for my 4 tier at the end of the month for charity. Got my SPS all ready so am going to tally up the ingredients this weekend and buy next.

Made a simple chocolate cake for a friend's birthday last week , no charge because I just donate cakes, and never heard from him!!??? I'm afraid to ask but I know it tasted ok because I gave the scraps to my DH and he said it was very good. I hate when they don't comment - makes me think they hated it.

Well at least with my roses I'm getting better with practice. I really respect all the talent here on cc.

And yes, I also watch DC cupcakes but I don't know why!!! Those girls drive me crazy! icon_smile.gif

cheatize, Ill answer that last one. No the sugar won't dissolve, assuming you're using sanding sugar, coarse sugar or sparkling sugar.

I roll cookie dough right on the Silpat I'm going to bake on and just pull away the excess.

Too funny about the cartoon, my 3 year old grandson likes a cartoon called Toupie & Benu (not sure of the spelling) anyway what a weird cartoon! icon_razz.gif
Leah I agree I can't even turn that cupcake show on! I'm really disappointed with a certain T.V. channels take on reality T.V. It is sooo over the top that its become trashy!

I forgot about Friday night cake club! I am trying to make an elephant cake for my sister's baby shower. I never found what I had in mind in the gallery so I'm totally winging it.

Last Friday I made a naughty cake.

Hi ya'll...working tonight on pieces to a baby shower cake. The theme is sports so I made baby converse shoes last week, a newborn size ball cap this week and now working on all the little balls to go on the outside of each tier. I also have 2 dozen cupcakes due this weekend but those are for tomorrow afternoon.

My frustration is that I'm booked till the 3rd week in June and have had 3 calls this week asking for cakes for April 9th! I've been booked that weekend for 3 mos! Why do people wait till the last second then complain that you are booked up? I feel badly that I can't help on one hand but on the other I'm irriated that they didn't call earlier. Anyone else feel this way?

Just venting. I'm so grateful to have the business and am hoping to quit my part time day job in June...this is what I keep chanting to myself when I get these last minute calls LOL!
