Feeling very frustrated tonight. I had a bride meet with me 7:30pm Tuesday for a consultation on a four tier "blingy" wedding cake...for tomorrow. No problem, right? I always make my cakes the day of delivery, or the night prior if it is an early morning delivery. I immediately had ideas out the wazoo but I live in this town which offers absolutely NOTHING in terms of cake decorating! I really wanted to work the edible diamond thing but after looking online, and realizing how much they would be with two day or overnight delivery, I scratched that idea and decided to make my own. Unfortunately I was only able to find larger molds and, after making three batches of hard candy and having edible "bling" out the hiney I'm sitting here thinking to myself that this is not what I am picturing. Period!!

I am so disgusted...I just really hate that I don't have things at my disposal for last minute cakes, but some things just aren't worth keeping in stock because they aren't used frequently...or they aren't thought of until I come up with a cake idea.

Guess I don't really have a point here, I am just venting some. I hate sacrificing the fully edible cake thing, but I might have to this go around. icon_sad.gif That and buying non-edibles will exceed the budget I set so my profit goes down. Booo! I don't suppose anyone has any ideas? She is wanting simple with a little bling. Ideas are here, but supplies aren't.

Good luck! I'm sorry I'm not much help...what kind of bride orders a four tiered cake the same week as the wedding????? Wow.

Do you have any disco dust? Its the best for adding last minute bling...you can even dust little fondant or gumpaste items to make them really sparkly....

The only shimmery dust I have is the fine dust in pearl and silver. I thought about putting it on the back of the edible gems for more shazam, but overall they are bigger than what I am wanting and just don't look like diamonds.

I guess she forgot to order the cake? The food is always the first thing on my mind! Tonight she called to see if she could add a grooms cake...after asking what it was supposed to be made out of. *lol* Sweet girl so I crumbled. Haha. She was so "whatever" Tuesday night but she is starting to panic about the small stuff now. I am such a sucker. icon_smile.gif

You are a saint is all I can say! You could always cut squares or something jewel like and then paint them with the dust - it will be shiny and blingy and not expensive. And I add color to my pearl and/or silver dust all the time to make whatever colors I want so if you need color that is an option too.

Renaejrk, Thank you for the tip! I didn't think of that. Lord knows I have enough other items I could mold up in the house. I might try that angle as well! I need to buy some of the silver spray...I'm thinking that would have come in handy. :p
