Hi, I'm in real need of airbrushing info. I've come to a point where I need to buy one now. My husband has an air compressor, can I buy a good attachment kit for cake decorating? Or should I just buy a kit exclusively for cake decorating with the small compressor that comes with it? I'd use it for base coating cakes, & luster dusting fondant pieces. What do you guys think?

I've seen the attachment kits at micheals & ac moore crafts stores. Badger air brushing co. makes them. Any info on these?

I just bought one from Creative Cutters.... It is really small and really quiet. I have not used it myself yet, only seen it used, and I was surprised how little there is to it (small !!!!) and how cheap they are 130 dollars for everything. All you need then is your colors!

My hubsand had a small compressor and he went out and purchased a airbrush kit from Harbor Frieght for like $15 and I have no problems out of it! To be honest if it stops working I will just go and buy another one at that price!

Good luck!

I'll have to look into this. We have a harbor frieght near us. You wouldn't happen to know the brand or anything about it would you?

The quietness if that's a word icon_lol.gif is something I should probably keep in mind. Especially with me decorating late at night when my kiddos are sleeping.

My husband bought me the air brush gun set to attach to his compressor..It's warm here,,so I can airbrush outside with it despite the loud noise his compressor makes..but he has a brand new, nice one. Anyways,,you can buy the "Paasche" airbrush set with the little gun included and it works great!! It comes with several little jars for your airbrush mix, and it's own wire attachement so it's for edible use only! I think he got it off of Amazon,,but don't know price..but yes,,I'm sure it's not very much..and yes, you can find these sets out there.

Best of luck

Thanks jenscreativity. That's kinda what I'm looking for. Something to try out with what I have. If it works great then I don't have to sink to much money into it. Thanks all again.

I am thinking about this one from Amazon - I am a part time/family baker so I don't need anything elaborate. Any opinions/suggestions??

Guys, I have a really dumb question...but when you say that you are using your husband's air compressor, how does that work? My husband has a big Craftsman air compressor in the garage that we use for your typical bike tire inflations, but are you saying I can somehow attach this to an airbrush gun and use it for cake?? I'm assuming that I can somehow adjust the strength of the air coming out of the compressor so it doesn't blow my cake to kingdom come, right?

If so, then I just need the airbrush, an attachment hose, and what else...an attachment kit of some type?

So confused. I need something by the 17th so I can make a hotrod cake for my father-in-law. Since I'm a hobbyist only, I need something economical -- so if this works, I'll be one happy caker!

I just got this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002QRWWH4/?tag=cakecentral-20
I have used it twice now and love it. I have never used any other, so can't compare to the more expensive ones, but this had great reviews, and has worked wonderfully for me.
