Hi All,
I'm about to pull the trigger and order my edible printer, but am looking for some tips from anyone who has used glace with the icing sheets. I know other icings have been used with success, but I've built my business on a variation of Toba's glace and don't want to change that just to use the icing sheets. Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks!!
Thanks, motherofgrace! Do you let your glace dry completely and then wet your sugar paper w/ corn syrup or do you set the image while the glace is wet?
Many thanks! I'm getting a single sheet printed by a friend who has a machine and I'm going to experiment
The RI folks seem to be letting it dry completely and then using corn syrup to glue the image on later...I'm glad that you do it right away! I'm always pressed right up to the last minute
Thanks again!
im not sure if i could use corn syrup on top of the glace just becace its made with it, you knwo what I mean?
I know some people use piping gel.
I just did my first edible images on glace cookies this week. I put the images on while the glace was wet. It worked perfectly.
Just curious. Which printer are you buying? I really want one.
In choosing an edible printer, you will want to choose a canon. They have removable printheads so that you can take it out and clean it if necessary. Epsons do not have that option. So if you have a clog, you are stuck.

Thanks so much for letting me know about your test run! I have a friend printing me one sheet this weekend so I can play around with it. Then I will likely purchase the Canon printer set-up from Icing Images! Just want to confirm with my sample before I actually make the purchase...but I'm so excited about it!
So, I'm new to all of this and the edible printers sound sooo cool. My question is, is there a specific canon printer that you have to use with the edible ink or is it just any? I've searched for edible canon printer and it came up with so many!! Very confusing.
The best ones out there right now are listed on our website, but the are the Canon ip3600 and mp560. Either of them are fine. One has a scanner built in and the other is just a printer
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! For those of you who use edible images, do you pipe around the edge of your image or otherwise treat the edges? I did some test cookies last week and am happy with the flexibility that edible imaging will offer me for writing/logos, but am perplexed by how to deal with the edges of the image. I would love to be able to use the machine to print names/dates/table numbers, etc. and attach them to cake shaped cookies, but becuase the edges of the images are so distinct, I'm struggling with how to do this in a way that looks nice. My first attempt looked like I just glued some paper to the top of my cookie LOL!
Suggestions for using edible images where the shape of your image and the shape of your cookie aren't the same?
Thanks so much!!!
I have used a few things on the edges of my cookies. Edible glitter, a thin piping of butter cream, depending upon the size of the cookie, I have used small piece of candy m&m's etc. Be creative you can use just about anything Good Luck

Do you have a picture of the cookies you made, would love to see the results, thanks
Here's a shot of the test cookies I did last week...they aren't perfect, but they were a decent test. If it doesn't show up in this attachment, I'll put it in my gallery

Yep. Had to put them in my gallery. Was a tiny file in the right format, but wouldn't attach to the post. Sorry!

Thanks, very nice I will have to give Toba's recipe a try
Canon printer these are he easiest to use and to maintain. I use a machine I purchased from PhotoFrost mine is the Canon ip3600, but they also have an all in one machine the MP620 both use the same cartridges, but one needs a computer and one does not require one. I like to work through my compter using a imaging program you always get better pictures that way
