Here are a couple of mine that I have done.

So much talent here.

This is my 3rd wedding cake that I have done. I charged her $250 (icon_redface.gif)
for her cake, the grooms cake and 50 cupcakes. I think next time Id charge about $300 for the cake (served a little more than 100 ppl) $65 for the Grooms cake served about 30 ppl, and $75.00 for the cupcakes @ $1.50 ea so $440 next time

I charged $60 for this cake. Next time I think Id charge $90.

This is a mini BBQ pit I did for a friends wedding. I charged her $60 for it. Next time I think Id charge $150-?

I LOVE how this cake turned out. I was so scared to carve the cake out for this one. I charged my cousin $30 for it. It was only supposed to feed 10 ppl but I made it to big and I think it could have fed about 30. Next time Id charge $75

I love these pop corn cupcakes. I charged $2.00 ea for them. I think I did 24. Next time Id charge at least $3.00. So I can pay my daughter $1.00 ea for helping me with the red lines!

My rose cake I made for my Aunt Rose for her bday! EVERY one loved it! People thought it was a huge fake flower! Not sure how much I would charge for it, but it took me a week to make. Any suggestions? It was a 8 round and 6 round.

We got $120.00 for this one, but it was when we first started charging for our cakes. It was 18"long and 12" wide. I think we would probably charge a lot more for it now. It took about 8 hrs to do. Chocolate mmf and candy corn melted to make the legs.

What about decorated cake boards? Do you up the per serving price or just add on $10 or $20 or what ever? The last cake I did it took me almost an hour to cover the board, make the letters & attach the ribbon.

Tried to add an attachment but it's not working. What am I doing wrong?!?!?

That is a really good question. It took me almost 2 hours to finish this board.

I would definitely consider that as part of decoration.

You're right, the boards are also time-consuming sometimes, especially if you're making them decorative. I always forget this part when calculating time and costs.

I've had several requests for the Tinkerbell cake in my photos http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1584142.

I've priced it at $350. It is a 14" round cake on the bottom with an 8" half ball cake on top (under the leaves), and all the leaves, flowers and tree trunk are edible. The only thing not edible is the support system and the Tinkerbell candle at the top of the tree. I would need a couple of weeks notice in order to do all the design work - making the decorations and allowing them time to dry, etc, because I work a full time job and make cakes at nights and weekends.

Great idea starting this topic thumbs_up.gif

I do cakes on the side and and not anything nearly as fabulous as what I see on here ... I think everyone is undercharging! I would charge a lot more for most of the things I am seeing and I have never had anyone bulk at my prices. My first wedding was for a friend and i still charged $400 and lik I said, everyone 's work on this thread is above mine! Dont forg all that clean up time.

This was a seven inch hexagon topped with a six inch round. The cake was darkest chocolate from scratch with a peanut butter filling. It was covered in MMF over a chocolate custard buttercream frosting. The decorations were chocolate candy clay and peanut butter candy clay with chocolate buttercream piping. The candy clays were made using Wilton Candy Melts.

It was my own birthday cake, and would have served 25. I would have charged $125 for it because of the candy clay work.

mburkett - thank you for that, cause that is exactly what I did...LAUGH!! Now she hasn't spoken to me for several days....I kinda feel right in being upset about it, and definatley right about not letting her borrow my pans... I gave her the prices of everything and where to purchase it..She will definatley have more involved by the time they buy all of the stuff AND make it themselves... ;~)

I have a friend who has obviously been watching too many cake shows and has ordered a bunch of cakes from me. The first one I made as a present for the girl's first birthday. For the second birthday, she told me she wanted a safari with lots of animals (she made a list) and a water fall and at least 3 tiers and she only wanted to pay $125-150. Sure. I made the cake for her since we are friends http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1602291
She only paid me 125 and moved the cake after I drove over an hour to deliver it and the whole thing fell somehow and she called me to ask how to fix it. Never again, I said.

She orders another cake. This one is for a wedding for a friend of mine and the bride told me she wanted a cake for 300 in square tiers with a tree growing up. After quoting her $588 for the cake, she shared with me that she only wanted to pay $125 and didn't understand why it would be anymore than that. Since it was a friend's wedding, I decided to share the cost and give it to her for 300.
http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1829301
She paid $240 for it and I delivered it 2 hours away.

Now she wants another cake! She already said she will only pay $125 and wants three tiers, a magical forest, faries, Disney princesses, unicorns and a castle. Seriously? I don't think this is good for our friendship.

This is terrible. She is taking advantage of you and now is the time to stop her. She is not acting like a friend at all. You are the one making the cake and you dictate the price. No one will do a three tier cake with figures for $125...she is sucking the fun out of what you love and that is not right at all! Stick up for yourself definitely or else she will never stop, she should be the one who is embarrassed - NOT YOU!!! Good Luck!!

I made this for dh and now someone wants me to give them a quote. I can't remember how much time, expenses, anything. I know it was 3 days that I worked on it but really don't recall how many hours. Anyway, I was hoping you all could give me an idea of what to charge.
