*sigh*

I think I have too many options and I'm stressing myself out. I don't usually have trouble settling on a design/plan, esp when I'm baking for friends or family.

My littlest has his 3rd birthday party Sat at once of those indoor, inflatable jumper places. This one is ocean themed so we are having a mid-winter luau.

So far I've considered: a Tiki cake, a 3D beach ball stacked on a regular cake, a 1/2beach ball stacked on a regular cake, a sand pail, something surf themed and I can't commit. Most luau cakes are too flowery for a boy. I'm afraid a tall skinny Tiki will topple over on the drive to the party site.

I would like to keep things reasonably simple since I have to deal w/mom of the birthday kid things.

Ideas? Encouragement? Can't ask the DH for ideas--he will say "cut your losses and just make cupcakes".

I have to bake tomorrow so I can finish on Friday for the Sat. AM party.

Most of the bounce places have a giant inflatable slide. How about a bright colored slide that make you slide into the surf on a beach. Not sure I am explaining it well but basically the inflatable slide on a beach.

A tiki god cake gets my vote...you could do it like this one and not have to worry about it toppling over.

Or make a smaller tiki mask out of RKT and put it on top of a "hawaiian/beach themed base? (Surf boards, sand and sea creatures?)

Just my two cents...

OOOOHHH--I like the Tiki on the bed of sand. I have a bunch of colored fondant done and one container of Duff chocolate fondant. I quick trip to the craft store for more & I would be in business.

I could do a square base cake and then do the Tiki on that. hmmmmm

I'd ask him what kind of cake he wants.

My daughter had her 6th birthday and I was thinking princess, and was all set for some kind of frilly, girly birthday cake. "So Sophie, what do you think?" Sophie. "Mom, you know what I want? I want a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich cake!" I nearly fell off my chair. "Really?" I asked. "Really, that's what I want." She said.

He just wants cake. Some days it is a "furf" cake (surf) others it is Lightening McQueen. He mostly doesn't get that even though his birthday was yesterday we aren't having the party until the weekend. He asks everyday if I am making his cake today and are we going to "get the party started".

We did a Lilo & Stitch Hawaiian party one year. The cake was a sheet, half of it covered in crushed Graham crackers mixed with brown sugar for sand and the other half was just blue icing to look like waves. At the back corner of the cake there was a volcano. I used the doll dress pan from Wilton to do the volcano. Iced it in chocolate frosting. Ww melted red jolly ranchers in the oven, let them harden, and stuck those pieces down the side of the volcano. We used either whipped topping or cotton candy at the top of the volcano for smoke. (i tried to get some dry ice but couldn't find any at a reasonable price.) The candles were those super skinny kind and we stuck them out of the top of the volcano. The boys at the party flipped out over the volcano. (ages 5-

I love the cake, but I think if I were a 3 year old it would scare the bageebas out of me. I do love the cake though. lol.

i don't have any ideas, but i can say i'm in the same boat. My daughter turns two in 3 weeks and i am at a complete loss of what to do for her cake, AND her party. She doesn't have a favorite anything, she likes everything and doesn't really "get it" yet. I'd let her choose even... but i have to at least narrow it down to two ideas. I'm thinking she may end up with a cake that has the slice taken out of it and set on top (mainly b/c i really want to do one!) and then cupcakes around it. Then i have a first birthday to start planning for my son in June....
