I have a demo coming up in week to do a bouquet and to sell them for valentines day. I was wondering the following:

1. How do you figure out the size of pot and ball you need. What size pot and Styrofoam ball (cut in half) would you need to make 1 doz mini cupcakes? 1 Dz regular size cupcakes?

2. What do you use for the leaves/foliage in between the cupcakes? Can you you make gumpaste foliage?

3. How much does a typical bouquet go for?

4. What do you cover the styrofoam with?

5. How do you package the bouquet for clients to transport?

I did not do this particular bouquet but I want mine to look realistic with shading of the BC. (Mainly do to the fact that were are trying to build sales with these for valentines day, not really focus on making it simple for anyone to actually do. )

i dont' use the styrofoam method... i prefer the cup method instead. Check out this thread for info on the cup method.

dreme... the person that made the bouquet planter made a tutorial of it, I will see if I can find it again. Do you have any other info for that planter bouquet? I will be getting back to you later, hopefully I will find it again. I do remember that she uses two thoopicks instead of one in each cupcake and her buttercream is a little stiffer. Until later!

I use the styrofoam method but I love the use of those bowls...probably cheaper than styo balls.
I have done regular cupcakes and mini's. I like the mini's because they seem to be more stable than the larger cupcakes, I also think they're sweet looking.

As you can see I did not put greenery between my flowers, but next time I would. I would use fondant or gumpaste. When I see people use buttercream I always think your fingers would get sticky pulling off the cupcakes.

I love making these. I haven't made them in ages....hmmm may have to come up with an excuse to try that bowl method.

I made 2 of the round bouquet, in my pics. I found out that mini's work better because you can pack them in and dont have to put stuff in between the cupcakes to cover the Styrofoam. if i did have some holes i just covered them up with fondant leaves. Took about 32 mini ccakes. since i dont sell i just give away to friends and neighbors for b-day gifts i cant say how much i would charge but i always ask for the container and styrofoam because they are pricey.

What size pot would I need for 24 minis or 1 dozen regular sized cupcakes? Would the styro foam bowls work with that method?

The 10 inch pot in my pics is about 24 cupcakes. That said what determines the number of cupcakes is how high the ball sits. For example if you buy a full styro ball and place it in the pot, 2/3 of the ball is exposed, if you cut the ball in 1/2 and glue that to the pot, then you have less surface area so fewer cupcakes. I like the taller balls but it costs more in styro foam. I don't charge for mine but if I did I would charge at least $30 for one with 24 minis. The big expense is the styro and the pot. I suggest finding the pot first, then take it to find the right size styro ball. Also use the Michaels coupon for the styro. Another tip is terra cotta pots are cheap but wrap then while you work on them otherwise you get grease prints on them...ask me how I know
