Ideas for 18 year old boy

So, my sil loved the boot cake I made for her 6 year old so much, now she wants me to make something for her 18 year old son's bday. She has no idea what he'd like. Hubby and I know a whole other side to him than his parents do (he's close with our son), so when I mentioned this to my hubby he suggested a beer can, can of Skoal, or a box of condoms! Obviously, those are all out of the question, but I thought it was funny. He used to love fishing and video games, but for the past 2 years his entire existence has revolved around girls. icon_rolleyes.gif He does love his truck, but that's way beyond my capabilities. Any suggestions?

He loves trucks and girls = mud flap cake with a profile of a girl? Just thinking...

Maybe find out what game console he uses and make an xbox or PS3 cake?
And a golf game beside it for extra detail

Do an ice cream cake! Decorate in
masculine colors...

If you want to do the mud flaps one, or any other, and not sure how mom and g/f will feel about them, ask. I'm sure they'll tell you either thumbs_up.gif or thumbsdown.gif

If he likes his truck, what about making a sheet cake and decorating it with a road and trees or stores or whatever scenery around it and put a toy truck that looks like his on it.

If not, does he like the beach or does he like to play a sport, even just for fun?

The truck doesn't have to be 3-d. I did a cake with DH's motorcycle represented in BC. I took a picture and made sure the details and colors were as close as I could get. He loved it!

If the young man really likes his truck, this might be an option.

Just a thought.

Edit to clarify: it wasn't an edible image. I took a pic to help me get all the details correct.

Since he likes girls, how about a corset cake! I have made these for guys of all ages and they love them! The first one served about 45 and the second one serves about 15-18.

You could also do a corset cookie bouquet just for him!

I agree.

I have a 19 year old son, and if I was hosting a party for him, I wouldn't want anything racy... boobs, playboy flaps, corsets, etc. would just be weird (for DS and me!) That kind of thing is more appropriate coming from his frat brothers!

I agree. Always better to get approval from the mom for those out of the ordinary cakes!

With a few teenage boys of my own, even though I know they like drinking, smoking and the hunny's, I don't want to encourage it or have a cake of it. I would go more of the truck route and if he played sports or the game machine. If his parents's wanted something racy, I'm sure she would have said that instead of saying she wasn't sure and with a younger kid in the house that will eat it, I would keep it on the safer side too. It doesn't have to be an object, you can just do a two tier with a simple design/coloer on it with the year on top. Sometimes we think we have to "out do" what we did last time but I'm sure he would appreciate anything you made because it's made for him.
