Many of you have said you can add tylose to fondant to make the fondant dry firmer/harder. What is the ratio of tylose to fondant that you use?
Thanks
I've heard about a teaspoon per pound of fondant. I just eyeball it too, but that sounds about right to me.
I took a class with Lorraine McKay (aine2) and she gave us instructions on how to add tylose to fondant. She has a great tutorial on youtube that explains everything.

Hope this helps...
Thank you all so very very much....the youtube video with Lorraine McKay gave me actual amounts to use. This was so helpful.
Thanks again. I really appreciate all your help.
AI know this is an old thread but I added 1/4 to 105g pack and it is still quite soft. How long does it take to harden? Has it by the window?

You don't want it to harden before you use it for something. Have you made something with it that is staying too soft, or are you wanting the ball of fondant to harden?
It will still take some time for figures to dry properly - 24 hours or so. If you add too much, the fondant will harden and go crumbly before you can do anything with it.
AHi. I cut some butterflies out. Wrapped the rest and stored it properly. I'm new to all this so its trial and error but I get frustrated with it easily. Thanks for your reply. Will see how it is in 24 hours. Thank you
Oh my goodness - this is not the kind of thing you need a video for. The amount depends on what kind of fondant you use and how hard you want it to get or how fast you want it to get hard. Debbie Brown recommends 2 t per each pound of fondant and this is about what I usually use in Satin Ice.
Just kneed it into the fondant. No big deal. It can be used immediately. Or you can let it rest a few minutes to overnight. With experience you'll see ultimately there's not a great deal of difference.
I store mine in plastic bags just twisted shut and put inside a fondant bucket with the lid on.
