I was making my grandaughter's cake for her 15th b-day and made a heart shaped 2 tier cake, I think where my mistake was, I only used 1 layer on the bottom, the pillars went for a tumble when I moved it to the table. It was dark chocolate fudge with chocolate icing, I lost the top layer. Luckily I took a picture of it before I moved it.

Welcome to CC, patticake1951!!

The cake looked gorgeous before disaster struck and you did a great job of "fixing" the mess! In my Wilton class, the instructor told us to not attempt to move a pillared, tier cake as it will not be stable no matter how many layers high the tier is. The top tier will be too top heavy and locomtion will create a disaster for you! Sorry you had to go through this!! Always assemble at the party site!! CC is the best site ever and you will soon be addicted!!

Wow! What a save! It looks great before and after! Just maybe not so much in between! icon_wink.gif I don't think that I would have been able to fix it after a collapse like that, but you did a great job! thumbs_up.gif

Thanks I was so upset in losing that, but at least I wasn't taking it any where, just to the table.
