How do I get the look of "lace" on a cookie? The cookie I am trying to make would be iced in red RI and then a white lace is on top. The lace isn't raised but looks like it is in the base color.

I would think you could use an airbrush or spray mist with a stencil while your base coat is still wet.

I think you would also have to work quickly (especially if using royal icing for your base coat)

I have never done it, but it seems that it should work. Just be sure to lift your stencil off carefully so it doesn't run and spoil what you have just done.

Use a stencil, royal icing , and an off set spatula. Set you stencil on top of the cookie, I cover my cookie with fondant first. Then using a medium consistency of royal icing spread a layer on top of the stencil. Swipe the excess royal off with the spatula and remove the stencil by pulling it slowly staight up. Do not peel from side to side. Wash your stencil and repeat. Make sure your royal is not too thin or it will bleed and not hold the detail. If the royal is too stiff it will leave little peaks when you remove the stencils. It takes some practice. I always do a trial run on a piece of parchment or wax paper before I do the cookie. Once you get the hang of it it really is very easy. Hope this helps. icon_biggrin.gif

I do as Alvarga suggests, but I did buy an airbrush I still haven't used yet. I might play with that.
