I am at the final step in getting licensed and legal...just passed inspection last week. I'm having a hard time picking my business name. Many names I liked are already in use by multiple bakeries and I don't know if I can use them. These were my suggestions:

Le Chic Custom cakes
Simply exquisite cakes by Norma
Sweet cakes creations by Norma
Dream cakes
Heavenly dream cakes
More than sprinkles custom cakery

Or just plain
Cakes by Norma

I am soooooo open for suggestions!!! I need this business name real fast

Thanks

I really like Dream Cakes. When I did a quick search of "Cake's by Norma', quite a few similar websites came up.

I like simply sweets by norma. Hubby is trying to avoid using my name idk why??

I know...quite a few others have Cakes by norma.

What about..."More than just sprinkles custom cakery"? or too long?

How about if someone already has the same name?

Idk... I think it's nice to have your name included, especially if it's a home-based business, but not so much for a storefront.

I think so too. I'm actually going to be renting commercial space so I won't have a storefront

I'd suggest you start looking on what names are available online. Assuming you will want a website. I had a few names picked out but the web addresses were already taken. So I had to change mine so that I could get the web address as well. With that said all your names are great but I wouldn't make it too long. Either people won't remember or they will shorten it anyway. Congrats and best of luck!

I stand corrected. LOL

I usually check more carefully, must have been multi-tasking again.

I don't like the person's name included unless it's first and last name like Norma Johnson Cakes. It sounds more professional and sophisticated with both names.

I really like Dream Cakes. It's simple and "punchy." I think names with too many words are just hard to remember. Is it Heavenly Dream Cakes, Dreamy Heaven Cakes? I think it just confuses.

If someone else in your area has the name already, of course you can't use it. You wouldn't even want to. Customers would never know which one to call.

When I was trying to decide on a good name for my business I came up with a four notebook page list!! Then I went through the online business name register for my state to see which had been already taken. Then with the ciuple ones left after THAT, I looked at the website domain register to see if anyt of those were available. I certainly did NOT get my first choice, but I ended up with one that reflects my personality and was catchy enough for this sort of business.

I should have said too - in Australia, you need to register business names, so there is no chance of having the same name or even one close to another business name, in the same state.

OMG guys I stopped getting emails telling me I had a response!!

Thanks guys for your input...I really liked "Dream Cakes", but then I did a google search and came up with LOTS and LOTS of other businesses with this name.

I ended up picking my name...."Luscious Cakes" or "Luscious cake designs". I think its short and sweet...I like it icon_smile.gif

What do you guys think?
