I got the Cricut Cake Mini for Christmas like many of you and I love it! I was apprehensive a bit after reading some negative reviews on it, but I just used it for the first time and had no problems. I rolled my fondant (satin ice) 1/8" thin and put it on the mat as the instructions said. I put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes while I got the machine ready. I used the Create a Critter cartridge and cut the whale and starfish. The little tiny hole cuts werent perfect, but I didnt expect them to be either. All in all, I love it and I think it cut it really well. The fondant didnt bunch up, slide, etc. Im excited to try it with gumpaste to see if the littlest details are more precise.

I got one for Christmas too and I'm scared to take it out of the box. I might experiment with for my nephew's cake weekend though.

Make the cut should work with any of the cricuts. If you roll your fondant/gumpaste thinner and let it dry a bit before cutting the the intricate designs will cut much better. The best way to roll it is with a pasta roller.
