I'd like to do an edible image plaque ahead of time. Can anyone tell me how far ahead I can do it without the colors fading? I'd like to do it 1 or 2 weeks ahead of time if possible.

I do my regular edible images (not necessarily on a plaque) weeks in advance and never had a fading problem.

I’m doing 3 edible images on 3 squares of fondant with tylose added to fondant and want to do them 3 days ahead. How do I store them until I put on cake? Thanks to anyone that has the time to help me.

My suggestion for storing them is to put them in a non airtight container (a cake box) to keep them dust free in a dark, cool, dry place.

Hey Kakeladi, just wanted you to know,I finished the edible images that I had to do. I cut out squares of fondant, use a damp small brush on the fondant, laid the image ( images won’t of good quality (from Harris Teeters close to us, they we’re drying out) but my husband helped me and we got them done . There were 3 of them . They r now in cake box in my spare bedroom, it is dark and fan oscillating, not on them but just out from them .i closed one of the vents in room also . I will be putting on cake real early Friday morning. For rehearsal Friday night. Thank you again for your advice!  Going to put small bead like border around them .

Sounds good :)  I don't think the fan was necessary but probably didn't do any harm.  Just as long as they were kept dry and cool.  Please do let us know how it all goes in the end.

Thank you Kakeladi for replying! They r drying beautifully. I’m so glad the images didn’t crack as bad as the sheet was. That lady won’t ever help me again .praying for God to keep them from cracking was wonderful too! It’s a 12x18x2 sheet cake . These will just across the center. I will put a small border around each ! I cut fan off last night. I just had it oscillating the room. Wasn’t blowing right on them.
