Today is the day that Creative Confections by Vickey was born! Yippppeeeee! icon_lol.gif
I am legal! I have been working diligently from daylight to way past dark for the past 3 weeks, but it has all panned out. The health inspector came by this morning for my inspection and I received a 98. Business license (both county and city) are on the wall right next to my inspection. Can you tell that I am excited?
Sorry this is gonna be long, but I just have to share.
OK. Here goes I am the mother of 2 beautiful daughters and have a wonderful husband. My oldest daughter is in Spec. Ed and is on an abbreviated day at school. She goes in at 8, we pick her up at 10:20, take her back at 1:20 and then she comes home at 3:20. So I have not been able to work a real job in a while and things have been getting really tough for us financially. About 1 ½ months ago, I decided that I wanted to start baking and decorating cakes to sell. So I started doing a little research, found Cake Central (thank God I did), and started praying (Lord if its your will, You will have to make it happen.) With the finances being so tight, I just knew that I wasnt gonna be able to afford a lot of the things that I would need to start a business.
Started out that I went to Michaels (really wanting the Ultimate Decorating Kit) but thought that I would settle for what we could afford ( not much). I already had the bare basics, Id be ok. Well, a total stranger walks up to me and handed me a coupon for 45% off. She told me that I needed to use that coupon today! So I did, and I got the kit that I was wanting for only $110.
Then I started looking for a 3 compartment sink. Found an article that a restaurant about 1 ½ hrs away had built a new restaurant and was having a yard sale to get rid of the things from the old one. There I found a 90 3 compartment sink with 2 drain boards ($959 value), with the 3 rotary waste valves ($59.99 each) and faucet ($52.99). All of this for only $200.00. icon_eek.gif Shelves for dry storage (5- 4 shelves, coasters, etc.) brand new for $50.00. I had a stove, bought my residential hood for $20. Bought a brand new 6 QT Kitchen aide for $300. I had the extra space at my home with an entrance without coming into the living quarters. My Dear Dad (72 y/o) has worked so hard to help and has done all of the electrical and plumbing at NO Charge.
I know that I have a very long way to go before I am half as good at decorating as some of you folks, but I am practicing daily and know that this is meant to be. icon_wink.gif I am The ONLY licensed cake shop in town, so I really expect this business to do well. thumbs_up.gif Keep your fingers crossed!
Thanks for reading!

Thank you all for the well wishes. icon_biggrin.gif I am excited, nervous and still in aw that it all came together so quickly and smoothly. icon_surprised.gif

Thanks tokazodo. Having a special child can be very stressfull at times, but I know that there will be no more put on me than what I can handle. Of course with Gods help. icon_smile.gif

I forgot to mention, the sign company wanted $75-100, just to cut the letters out for my sign. That is with me building a sign and putting the letters and all on it and hanging it, etc. I found a Cricut on e-bay for @ $70 including shipping, so that I can cut my own vinyl letters. My design that I used for my cards should be a very simple design to create on there as well.

Thanks to indydebi for input and opinion and answering my pm's. She has allowed me to pick her wonderful "cake business" mind over the last couple of weeks and has been my cheerleader behind the scenes. Deb you are still my cakeing hero! thumbs_up.gif LOL
