Use gumpaste or gumpaste/mmf mix, or add tylose to it. Mmf is too soft. I always use gumpaste for all my figures. icon_smile.gif

You can get it from a specialty cake store. If you don't have one in your area, you'll probably have to order online. Not sure if they have it at Michaels....gumpaste isn't all that expensive, because you use it exclusively for figures, not to cover the cake, andif youdont use it all, you can save it. icon_smile.gif

I use MMF exclusively...for figures I add tylose powder to it.

For the heads in particular, after rolling you can set them inside a Tablespoon to dry...you can work on the facial features right there in the spoon...you never really have to touch it, you move it around by the handle.
(By the way, I first lay a small piece of Saran Wrap across, to make it easier to pop out)

You can also fill a small bowl with flour, wrap with Saran, and indent a round shape on top...you can then set your head in there till it dries.

OR...you can buy these: http://www.globalsugarart.com/product.php?id=16796&name=CelFormers%20by%20CelCakes

I follow the exact steps that FlourPots details and I never have a problem with drooping or sagging on my figures. When I first started making figures I used straight gumpaste, but was disappointed with the cracking once it dried. Now I use gumpaste exclusively for flowers and fondant mixed with tylose powder for figures. If gum-tex is more readily available to you, you can use it as you would the tylose powder (1 teaspoon gum-tex kneaded into 12 oz. fondant).

I order tylose online in bulk (I use a lot of it). Can't remember which site, but just start searching around.
