Just realized I'm completely out of liquid red food coloring. I've got plenty of Americolor red gel though. Does anyone know if I can use that or will it give a funny taste?

Thank you!

You can use the Americolor but be careful to not put too much or else it will leave a bitter taste. Believe me, lesson learned the hard way. With gel though, you don't need too much of it either.

I think the Americolor red leaves a funny taste. For red, I use liquid or the Wilton no taste red gel. Maybe you should put a very tiny bit on your finger and taste and see what you think?

my recipe calls for 2oz of liquid red coloring. I measure out 2 oz of water and then add a few drops of the americolor to get the right color. Not a lot of red used this way

I have used both Wilton and Americolor, and never tasted a difference. But like everyone else has said, a little goes a long way
