Hi All!!! I'm hoping some of you can help me out here. I agreed to do this Backyardigan themed cakes but I have no idea how to do the rainbow fondant effect or how to make the figurines. I've tried to make figurines before, but they always come out looking smushed because my fondant bodies won't stay up while drying. Also, I can't get my arms to stay on. Does tanyone have any tips for the rainbow fondant effect or the figurines? Thanks in advance![/img]

I'm having trouble attaching the image here, please click the link and scroll down to the cake.

Use gumpaste or a 50/50 mix of fondant and gumpaste.

You could use royal icing, toothpicks, or plain 'ol water.

They are just stripes. Easier to apply individually than to cover an entire cake all at once. Have fun!!!

The rainbow is done by cutting strips of fondant. I would over lap one color slightly over the other to cut the edges that meet together. for your figures I would mix half gumpaste with your fondant iy dries much faster use toothpicks to attach limbs hope that helps

I use uncooked spagetti to attach arms. That way, the entire figure is edible.
