at this point, buy the crown. concentrate on getting that fondant and buttercream made. Remember both do much better when they can sit for 24 hrs before using.

I was going to send you hugs, but after 12hrs of work, I am sending foot and back rubs your way. thumbs_up.gif I think those would help the most.

Can you take a 15 min. coffee brake (or whatever you take to help you relax.) It sounds as if your so tired your making yourself stress more.

If you can hold up a few hours more, work on the cake. With a beautiful cake the crown will look great regardless of what its made from.

Wish you were close enough, I run over and help. Keep your chin up!!

I just made my first gumpaste crown (see "my photos"). I planned weeks in advance cause they take time to set up. My first one broke, thank God my second one worked.

Buy the crown, make a beautiful cake and nobody will care that the crown is not made out of gumpaste.

Sending cake angels your way. icon_smile.gif

I had a similar experience. I bought a plastic crown, dipped it in white chocolate, then dusted gems with luster dusts and attached some dragees and pearls. It looked as if I had made it and everyone as happy!

Oh, and almost forgot, OOO 3 big hugs for you!

Thanks auntginn. It wasn't as thin and delicate as I would have liked, (make sure you tap it and let as much of the chocolate drip off) but it worked!

Are you a nurse? (I am, too, and we're the ones who usually work 12 hr shifts). I hope you left that crown and went to bed. You have another busy shift ahead of you, and having a homemade crown is NOT worth the hassle. Get some sleep, buy a crown and dip in chocolate. BUT MAKE SURE YOU LET WHOEVER IS GOING TO EAT THE CAKE KNOW THEY CAN'T EAT THE CROWN!!!!!

Hope you slept well..................

krissycupcakes, please get some rest!

I'm glad your cake turned out for you! I hope you can get enough rest to get you through work tomorrow.

Best wishes!

I know this is after the fact but wanted to say this. I tried making 2 different RI crowns for my 2 granddaughters bdays once. They kept breaking on me. I got one to work and I finally did one in melted chocolate and then put silver dust on it. It worked much easier than the RI one.
