Cake Central's Wedding Cake Of The Year Contest
Decorating By sharinSharon Updated 2 May 2011 , 5:27pm by WhiskMeAway12
Does anyone know if there is a specific theme for the contest? I know it has to be a wedding cake - but is it supposed to follow a certain theme? Like the Oklahoma show has a theme every year. I've read the rules page in the magazine like 20 times and I haven't found one???? Or can we just go hog wild crazy on the thing?!
As far as I can tell, there's no theme. I wish I had time to enter. I'd need until November to design something, much less put it together! I wish it had been announced earlier. Oh, well....maybe next year?
Where did you hear about this contest? I haven't been able to find anything about it anywhere on the site...??
Thanks!

The OP mentioned the "magazine" in the first post, so my guess is it was an ad or an article in the CakeCentral magazine in one of the last issues.
Does anyone know which issue that it is in???
It's been in the last two issues of the magazine.
We will be making an announcement to every one about it in a newsletter later today, and in my blog.

I am pretty excited about it! Once we make the announcement I will post a link in this thread for you.
The wedding cake of the year contest has only been advertised in the August and September issues of the Cake Central Magazine so far.

Why can only US residents participate? I don't mean to sound peevish, but I don't think that's fair as there are so many different nationalities here.

We had to limit the contest to US residents only because whenever you run a contest that has a prize this large, there are International "lottery" laws that come in to play. Because every country has it's own law on contests/prizes (aka "lottery") there was just no feasible way for us to include any country outside the US.
But our online contests are still open to everyone, anywhere.
Hi Jackie, thanks for clearing that up, I totally understand now
Any news on when you will have the next online contest?
any idea if there is a problem with entered online, i've been trying for about a hour now and when i hit send it just keeps loading..any help would be great.thanks
Is anyone else having problems with submitting the pictures. Mine keeps saying that it is sending. I don't know what to do, is there an email conformation thAt says it is done uploading?

I had the same problem for several days. I tried submitting from 2 other computers, and because of the weather (snowed in), I was not able to get to the post office to mail my entry either. So frustrating. I let the little arrows run the last time for more than 48 hours.
Any possibility that we will have another chance to post our entries? The roads are finally clear so I can mail or email or try the online entry again?
We have received questions and concerns from those of you who attempted to make online WCOTY contest submissions near the December 31 deadline. At the time, we experienced some technical problems, and we apologize for any unsuccessful uploads or troubles you may have experienced. Additionally, we are aware that due to bad weather conditions and holiday post office closures, you may not have been able to meet the contest mail-in deadline.
Furthermore, we would like to provide one last opportunity to submit your WCOTY contest entry via mail. Your mail-in entry must be postmarked by Monday, January 17. All entries postmarked after this date will be disqualified.
Please send your contest entry by mail using the directions found on this page: http://cakecentral.com/weddingcakeoftheyear/enter-the-contest
