I want to make my dad a Cadillac shaped cake for his birthday party. I really like this one which I found on google images but I'm new to cake making and don't really know where to start... would it be best to make a big rectangle shape then carve it down into a Cadillac shape or should I add the wings and wheels etc with icing?
Does anyone know of a good cake pan to use as the base?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

When I make cars I use the blueprint .com site. It gives you a blue print I enlarge it to get the pattern. I would use just a plain rectangle pan. good luck.

That's an interesting resource. But, when I went to blueprint.com, I got something that looks like an advertising agency. Are they the ones with the blueprints? There didn't seem to be a link on their site.

???

Maybe you'd like to purchase Mike McCarey's dvd on making a car. IMO it's worth buying! He goes through steps in making a mustang car, but the same principle would apply to ANY car. Hope this helps and yes, the blueprint website is so helpful! Thanks for passing that info.
